Hero worship is a human generated myth designed to make you feel inadequate — well, if you’re not “the hero” that is.

Nowadays the ultimate American hero is on a special operations team feeling bad about leaving his kids in the dust while whacking filthy terrorists in a foreign country. He’s out there making America safe. He’s doing it for us.

SEAL Team 6 does not give a shit about you — or your safety.

Taking care of a couple of sick kids after working a soulless job for 8 hours is 10X harder than whacking terrorists. The next parade you see, take a deeper look at the marchers. America doesn’t give a shit about real heroes.

The Resistance is forcing you under. It’s making you double over and drop down.

The Resistance is a dirty motherfucker. It’s telling you what to do and making you its bitch. Right now. It wants you to suck — just like everybody sucks. It’s easier just to suck at everything than to choke on the acid and emerge human.

The Resistance wants you to say “it’s okay.” It’s not okay. It wants you to be comfortable, go on vacation, spend too much, eat too much, think too much, worry too much, fluff another pillow. But — the Resistance NEVER wants you to act up, wake up, stand up, or fuck up. The Resistance hates reality even more than you do.

The Resistance will never go away. The best you can do is dig in. Fight when you’re tired. Mend when you’re angry.

I believe we’ve arrived at that point where there’s nothing left to say. Only choosing and doing (or not doing) exist anymore. The 800 pound gorilla has been fully identified, acknowledged, and weighed. The pill has been swallowed.

Reverse gear has been long since stripped.

BTW, the illustration is the first page of a graphic novel I’ve been working on for longer than I care to admit. This is the first public look. No more hiding.
