Here’s a plastic legacy to consider.  The sobering conclusion is that there is no solution to offer, just a choice to keep going or stop where we’re at.

In the context of whether incinerators are a good idea, I came up with a guideline for mfgs: “If I can’t burn it, compost it, or 100% re-use or recycle it, you shouldn’t be selling it.”
In a certain twisted logic, this only eliminates plastics.

“only”? bwahahahahaha

a p.s. A while back, I read about a way to use old plastic as part of the steel production cycle in electric arc furnaces. The plastic is broken down enough to incorporate the carbon. I just don’t think a reduced economy will need THAT much steel production.

You thought climate change has scary consequences? Read Alana Mitchell’s ‘Sea Sick’.

This is literally the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what we’re doing to our oceans.
